Handglove, Inc. (“Handglove,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides a digital healthcare workforce platform connecting healthcare facilities, staffing vendors, and clinicians. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in compliance with:

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Maryland Personal Information Protection Act
  • Applicable federal and state data protection laws

1. Scope of Policy

This Policy applies to:

  • Healthcare facilities (including corporate systems)
  • Staffing vendors and agencies
  • Clinicians (CNA, GNA, LPN, RN, etc.)
  • Website, mobile, and SMS/automation platform users

2. Information We Collect

  • A. Personal & Professional Information: Name, contact details, licensure and credentials, employment and work history, background check information.
  • B. Operational & Platform Data: Shift postings and fulfillment rates, response times and availability, facility demand patterns, vendor performance metrics.
  • C. Financial & Transaction Data: Payment details, timesheets and billing records.
  • D. Device & Usage Data: IP address, device type, login activity, platform interactions.
  • E. Protected Health Information (PHI): Collected only when necessary and handled under HIPAA-compliant safeguards.

3. How We Use Information

We use data to:

  • Core Operations: Match clinicians to shifts, process payments, verify credentials.
  • Platform Optimization: Improve fill rates, optimize pricing recommendations, enhance automation (e.g., auto backfill).
  • Business Intelligence: Analyze workforce trends, predict staffing shortages, improve system-wide efficiency.

4. Data Ownership & Platform Rights

4.1 Platform Data Rights: Handglove retains ownership of platform-generated data, aggregated workforce data, and performance analytics.

4.2 Facility Data: Facilities retain ownership of their internal operational data and patient-related data.

4.3 Vendor & Clinician Data: Vendors and clinicians retain ownership of their personal information.

4.4 License to Use Data: All users grant Handglove a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use anonymized and aggregated data to improve platform performance and develop predictive analytics.

5. Data Sharing

We may share data with:

  • A. Facilities: Clinician credentials, availability, and performance.
  • B. Vendors: Shift opportunities and facility requirements.
  • C. Service Providers: Payment processors, background check providers, and cloud hosting services.
  • D. Legal & Regulatory Authorities: When required by law or to protect rights and safety.

6. HIPAA Compliance

Where applicable, Handglove:

  • Acts as a Business Associate.
  • Protects PHI using administrative, physical, and technical safeguards.
  • Executes Business Associate Agreements (BAA) when required.

7. Maryland Data Protection Compliance

Under Maryland Personal Information Protection Act:

  • Personal data is protected against unauthorized access.
  • Breach notifications will be issued as required by Maryland law.
  • Reasonable security procedures are implemented.

8. Data Security

We implement:

  • Encryption (data in transit and at rest).
  • Role-based access controls.
  • Continuous monitoring.

9. Data Retention

We retain data as long as necessary for operations, as required by law, or for analytics in anonymized form.

10. User Rights

Users may access their data, request corrections, or request deletion (subject to legal obligations).

11. SMS & Automation Communications

By using the platform, users consent to SMS notifications (shift alerts, call-outs, confirmations) and automated communications. Users may opt out where permitted.

12. Third-Party Integrations

Handglove may integrate with facility systems, vendor systems, and payroll platforms. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Handglove is not liable for indirect or consequential damages related to data use. Liability is limited to amounts paid to Handglove in the prior 3 months.

14. Updates to Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance.
